Want to Love Your Photos? Start with These 5 Simple Choices
Let’s be honest - many people don’t love being in front of the camera.
We smile, freeze, overthink… and then end up with a photo that doesn’t feel like us.
Sometimes we don’t even want to look at it again.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Here’s something we don’t hear often:
You don’t need to lose weight, learn how to pose, or become someone else to love your photos.
You just need a few small tips to feel more calm, more prepared, and more like you.
Let me share them with you.
1. Text your outfit options. Seriously.
Don’t wait until the morning of your shoot to dig through your closet in a panic.
Try your clothes on a few days before. Lay them out. Take a mirror selfie. Then send them to your photographer and ask, “Which one photographs better?”
This helps both of us be 100% ready and saves time later.
2. Say what you like—and what you don’t.
If you don’t like your smile in photos, or you like one side of your face better - say it!
It’s not being picky. It’s being honest. And when you’re honest, your photographer can guide you in a way that works for YOU, not for some generic beauty standard.
This is your story. Let’s make sure it shows up the way you want it to.
3. Look at the photos during the session.
Yes, you’re allowed to peek. And yes, you should. Looking at a few pictures during the shoot can be a big confidence boost.
And if something feels off, we can fix it right away.
I firmly believe collaboration makes great (GREAT!) portraits.
4. Give yourself space before your shoot.
Try not to come straight from a busy day. If you feel rushed or stressed, it will show in your face. Give yourself a break before the session. Listen to music. Have a snack. Take a deep breath.
Walk in feeling like yourself, not like someone who just survived a tornado of to-do lists.

5. You’re not supposed to know what to do.
Don’t worry about how to pose or where to put your hands. That’s not your job. That’s mine. And I will guide you in ways that feel natural, relaxed, and strong. Every pose - we’ll make it yours.
All you need to do is show up, trust the process, and have fun!
And here’s the truth that matters most:
You are not too “anything.” You deserve to exist in photos that feel like you.
